Improvement Day

One focused day to make your website better.

Sometimes you don’t need a redesign, a long project or another proposal. You just need someone experienced to decide what matters and get useful work done.

A day to make useful progress

An Improvement Day gives us focused time to tackle the changes, problems and opportunities that have built up since the last substantial piece of work.

If you already have a reasonable idea of what needs attention, it is often the simplest way to make meaningful progress without turning everything into a larger project.

Bring me the list

If you already know what needs attention, send me the list. If you’re not sure yet, that’s probably a job for a Website Check-in.

Perhaps there’s a page that has never quite worked. The navigation needs attention. Analytics are showing something interesting. Search performance has slipped. A new service needs incorporating properly.

Or perhaps you’ve simply accumulated six months of small website jobs that nobody has managed to tackle.

Send me the list before the day. I’ll review it, ask any necessary questions and help decide where our time is best spent.

Then I work through it in order of value.

What we might work on

  • Improving an important page
  • Resolving usability or content problems
  • Reviewing analytics and acting on what they show
  • Improving navigation or site structure
  • Addressing search visibility
  • Fixing accessibility or performance issues
  • Incorporating a new service or change in the business
  • Clearing a collection of smaller improvements

The point isn’t to complete the longest possible list. It’s to make the best use of the day.

How it works

Before

You send me your website and the things you’d like to address. I’ll review them and identify any questions, dependencies or access we’ll need.

The day

I work through the agreed priorities, concentrating on the things likely to make the greatest difference.

After

I’ll tell you what was completed, anything I’ve noticed along the way and what, if anything, I think deserves attention next.

If something turns out to require a larger piece of work, I’ll explain why rather than allowing it to consume the day unexpectedly.

£700 for a day

Or book three days for £1,950, paid upfront and used within 12 months.

Three days can be used together for a more substantial piece of improvement work or separately as needs arise.

A day remains a day. There are no surprise extensions or automatically added charges.

Is this the right place to start?

An Improvement Day works best when you already have a reasonable idea of what needs attention.

If the harder question is what should we be doing to the website?, a Website Check-in is probably the better starting point.

If there’s already a list waiting for someone to tackle it

Email me the website and the list, and I’ll tell you whether an Improvement Day is the right fit.
